Horse and kid-friendly Poway is located in the center of San Diego
County. Poway became its own incorporated city back in 1980 and
it has never looked back.
Calling itself, “The City in the Country” it can be
best characterized by the lush, mature
landscaping, rolling foothills, miles of hiking and jogging, and
of course, it’s horse back trails. Poway has over 3,000 acres
of dedicated to open space, and has many recreational facilities
including the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve and Lake Poway itself.
Located just east of the I-15 there is commuter bus services between
Poway and downtown San Diego.
Poway offers the individual homeowner a great deal of independence.
Few rules of homeownership apply. Need to park that R.V. (recreational
vehicle) at your home? Many of the homes have “R.V. parking”
available. Want to add square footage to your home? As long as there
are building permits – most areas of Poway are devoid of any
rigid rules that restricts land use. Many of the original homes
are tract homes, the most affordable ones in “Old Poway”,
but there are some very large beautiful estate and custom homes
that have been built in varying sections of Poway. Low-density zoning
prevails. Elevations range from 450 to about 2,250 feet above sea
level – offering some homeowners with wonderful views of canyons,
scenic hills and glimpses of the Pacific Ocean.
Poway is home to the much heralded Poway School District. The quality
of the education is so good that I have had parents tell me, “As
long as my child’s school will be in the Poway School District…”
Though my step-daughter now attends school in the San Diego School
District there is no doubt her strong writing and reading skills
and her self-discipline came from her early years attending the
Poway School District.
The huge 700 acre South Poway Business Park is home to well-known
companies such as
Gateway, Geico, Bilstein, and many others. If you happen to work
in Poway – why live anywhere else?
