This master planned community was built originally in the ‘60’s
and ‘70’s now is called home to about 50,000 residents.
Nestled between its big brother to the north, Rancho Bernardo, and
Mira Mesa to its south – this particular area of single-family
homes and condominiums provides families plenty of space. Many of
the homes tend to be larger than and their corresponding lot sizes
as well. The schools are part of the Poway Unified School District.
Access to Rancho Penasquitos is off the I-15, or the almost-completed
56 which eventually will take you to the Interstate 5. Going to
and from Mira Mesa is easy enough through Black Mountain Road.
Most of these homes are tract homes like in most San Diego but
there are some custom homes that have been built. This area of San
Diego has plenty of little hills and or cliffs – providing
a sense of privacy. Many young families are attracted to this community.
